MR. PINK TAKES FLIGHTJune 20 to October 6, 2024
From the fertile mind of Philippe Katerine comes Mignonisme, an artistic movement that brings to life a universe as unexpected and delicate as the artist behind it. With wide-ranging and highly poetic influences, the movement embraces and promotes an aesthetic of “cuteness” in our physical and psychological environments. Simply put, Mignonisme is a love letter to the beauty of simplicity.
A series of inflatable sculptures of Mr. Pink, the iconic figure of Mignonisme, has invaded the area around Place Royale. This colourful, playful art walk invites us to look up at the building facades, roofs and trees, revealing discoveries not visible at street level. These adorable plump figures add a bubblegum-coloured splash of whimsy to beautiful historic Old Quebec. Always keen to joyfully subvert the established order, Philipe Katerine’s pink figures draw passersby and their surroundings into the story. The trail of pink figures leads to EXMURO’s Aire Publique, where the public can enjoy the accompanying gallery show, Exposition Mignoniste.
