HOPE 2.0 June 3rd to September 3rd 2024

The monumental torch is hand built from wood to replicate an oversized BBQ lighter. In a public square, a lighthouse is topped with a rotating plastic flame, homage to the collective hope we fervently cling to in difficult times. Bearing the Hope brand, the object offers some glimmers of light in the gloom of our uncertain lives as a reminder of the urgent need to act.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sébastien Giguère creates inventive sculptures that reimagine daily life with a dash of whimsy, articulating a poetry of the everyday that cheekily embraces the superficiality of the worldly. With the BGL collective (dissolved in 2021), he has taken part in biennials in Havana, Ushuaïa, Quebec City, and Montreal, and represented Canada at the Venice Biennial.
