THE ODYSSEY
Three oversized pigeons ogle a can of Campbell’s soup. Puzzled by the mysterious container, the birds seem oblivious to its contents or the means to access it. In reference to Pop Art and to the commodities often replicated by Andy Warhol, this work recalls the sometimes-elitist nature of contemporary art. Much like the monolith in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey, the tin can is like a door to another world (the art world).

COOKE-SASSEVILLE
Jean-François Cooke and Pierre Sasseville have worked together under the name Cooke-Sasseville since the early 2000s. The duo’s unique approach draws on the artist’s condition, advertising culture and the relationships between art and triviality. In addition to having developed multiple public art projects, Cooke-Sasseville has participated in several exhibitions and events in Quebec and abroad. Their works are part of major collections at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Ville de Montréal, the Canada Council Art Bank and the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal.
