LAB-545
MINIGOLF BELLEVILLE PLAISIRS
FROM JUNE 21 TO SEPTEMBER 1, 2025

EXHIBITION
MINIGOLF BELLEVILLE PLAISIRS
Ateliers Belleville (LAB-545) and EXMURO are pleased to present Minigolf Belleville Plaisirs. What happens when artists take over everyone’s favourite kitschy game of skill? To find out, more than 20 Quebec-based artists rose to the challenge of imagining a full 18-hole mini golf course fitted out with whimsical, improbable hazards. Their installations reinvent the mini golf experience with fantastical worlds, sensory awakenings, wacky interactions, and unexpected combinations of materials and objects.
Conceived as a gateway to contemporary art, this mini golf course combines the precision of sports with the creativity of contemporary art in an accessible, playful approach that opens up a space of discovery to one and all. The installations are each as unique as the next, and are designed to provide golfers with distinctive experiences. Each new hole provokes a range of reactions: frustration at the impossibility of certain obstacles, amazement at the course’s complexity, and moments of shared joy at the pleasure of playing.

Ateliers Belleville (LAB-545)
Ateliers Belleville (LAB-545) is an artistic and social hub for research and creation whose mission is to foster the growth and influence of independent artistic practices. The organization provides affordable studio space and resources to artists and craftspeople, encouraging cooperation with the wider art world, sharing among members, and community outreach.
Created in 2015 in Montreal by artists Alexis Bellavance and Jonathan Villeneuve, Ateliers Belleville collectively acquired 545 rue Legendre Ouest in 2022. By 2023, the group already had more than 120 artist and artisan members.
