The exhibition
ESPOIR 2.0
A wooden replica of a barbecue lighter stands like a lighthouse at the end of a quay. Hand-built by the artist and emblazoned with the Espoir® trademark, the gas lighter seems destined to ignite a flame of collective hope, the kind we cling to in times of uncertainty. The work appeals to the urgency of action and the importance of rekindling the enthusiasm necessary for change.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sébastien Giguère
Sébastien Giguère creates inventive sculptures that oscillate between the ordinary and the eccentric to articulate a poetry of the everyday that, in a sometimes grating way, refers to the emptiness of the world. With the BGL collective, disbanded in 2021, he participated in the Havana, Ushuaïa, Québec and Montréal biennales, and represented Canada at the Venice Biennale.

PARTNERS
This work was originally created for the PASSAGES INSOLITES public art trail, designed by EXMURO art public and presented by Quebec City.
