The exhibition
Thousands of open books, lit from within and spread out along the road, form an impressive river of light for one evening. Literature takes over the public space, transforming it into a place of wonder, contemplation, and the sharing of a common love of reading. This ephemeral, participatory installation—composed of nearly eleven thousand books—is open to passersby and gradually disappears as people take home the used books made available to them. Any books that are not taken will be donated or reused in future EXMURO public art projects.

Luzinterruptus has been creating temporary urban installations in public spaces since 2008. The anonymous collective uses recycled materials as its raw material, light as its aesthetic focus, public space as its playground, and citizen participation as its means of communication. Its projects have graced the streets of numerous cities on every continent except Antarctica.
