MINIGOLF BELLEVILLE PLAISIRS
Ateliers Belleville (LAB-545) and EXMURO present Minigolf Belleville Plaisirs, a group exhibition based on the artistic hijacking of a kitschy yet friendly sporting pastime. More than 20 Quebec-based artists have taken up the challenge of imagining a complete 18-hole course fitted with whimsical and unexpected obstacles. Their installations reinvent the experience of this popular activity with absurd stagings, immersions that awaken the senses, zany interactions and astonishing combinations of materials and objects.
Conceived as a gateway to today's arts, Minigolf brings together precision sport and contemporary creation in an approach that is both accessible and festive, creating a space of discovery for all. The facilities, each as unique as the next, are designed to provide golfers with distinct experiences. The holes can provoke a range of reactions: frustration at the impossibility of certain obstacles, amazement at the complexity of the course and moments of shared joy at the pleasure of playing.
