The exhibition
MIRO-EYE
Miro-Eye is an interactive installation that converts visitors' movements into electrical energy using LiDAR sensors. The data collected is animated on LED screens in the form of sleeping eyes, which gradually awaken as visitors participate, offering an intuitive visualization of the transformation of gesture into electricity.
By integrating these animated eyes into the architectural façade of the Miro Power Plant, the work transforms the building into an active observer, inciting playfulness and reflection on notions of surveillance and control. Using a visual language inspired by familiar emojis, Miro-Eye subtly raises issues related to data collection and the management of digital environments. Also suggesting a protective gaze, these luminous eyes light up the street and invite us to consider the delicate balance between security and discomfort, benevolence and surveillance.
A collaboration with the Floworks agency, Miro-Eye is visually derived from the work Big Other by artists Pierre&Marie. Presented in collaboration with Urban Art Lab, this project is part of the Smart Picnic: Sensing the City program of the Miro Meta Art Open Lab, a platform for international exchange between artists and scientists to develop new relationships between art, technology and the city.
