Unusual trails

From June 20 to October 12, 2026, EXMURO presents Sentiers insolites, an outdoor public art experience in Quebec City's parks. Inspired by the famous Passages insolites trail, this contemporary art event invites the public to discover art installations integrated into nature through exhibitions by Giorgia Volpe at Parc des Saules and Cooke-Sasseville at Base de plein air de Sainte-Foy.

Between strolling, contemplation and artistic discovery, the Sentiers insolites offer a unique encounter between contemporary art and the natural environment. Works of art appear along paths, clearings and riverbanks, offering a fresh perspective on Quebec's landscapes.

The tours feature emblematic works from the EXMURO collection, already presented in Passages insolites, as well as new creations designed especially for these natural spaces.

About the artists

Giorgia Volpe

At Parc des Saules, Giorgia Volpe presents a series of public art installations inspired by nature, human relationships and collective memory. Along the Saint-Charles River, her works created from recycled materials interact with trees, paths and the surrounding landscape.

Through weaving, assembling and recovering materials, the artist develops a contemporary art practice focused on care, transmission and the links between living beings. Her poetic interventions invite visitors to slow down and enjoy an immersive experience in the midst of nature.

Cooke-Sasseville

The Cooke-Sasseville collective, formed by Jean-François Cooke and Pierre Sasseville, has been developing a contemporary art practice blending humor, social satire and references to popular culture since 2000. Through monumental sculptures and absurd stagings, the duo question consumer society, the banality of everyday life and the contradictions of the contemporary world.

Presented at the Base de plein air de Sainte-Foy, their public art exhibition transforms the seaside landscape into a terrain of unusual apparitions. Deployed around the lake and paths, the works emerge like sculptural anomalies in nature, provoking unexpected encounters between humor, strangeness and critical reflection.
