The exhibition
SIP MY OCEAN
Enjoy a unique immersive experience with Sip My Ocean. This video installation by Pipilotti Rist transports viewers into a kaleidoscopic, hypnotic aquatic paradise.
The work deploys saturated images of waves, coral and domestic objects slowly sinking to the depths. A bikini-clad woman floats and swims, sensually merging with the marine environment, while subtly denouncing voyeuristic gazes and gendered norms.
The soundtrack - an intense rendition of Chris Isaak's song Wicked Game performed by the artist herself - alternates between softness and shattering screams, revealing an inner struggle between desire and rejection. The work poetically explores the contradictions of human desire, between intimacy, chaos and cosmic wonder.
Presented in the historic vaults of the Aire Publique, the double projection is accentuated by the colonnade dividing the space, while the vaulted ceilings amplify sound propagation. The dark atmosphere of the space reinforces the surprise effect, plunging visitors into the depths of the sea.

ART ON THE EDGE OF CHAOS
For its 2025 program, EXMURO's Aire publique becomes the stage for artistic explorations in which humans are subjected to the powerful impulses of natural forces. Works by Pipilotti Rist (Switzerland), Isaac Cordal (Spain) and Martin Bureau (Quebec) subvert norms and reinterpret our assumptions, confronting the insidious forces of capitalism, patriarchy and the climate crisis. Sharing critical visions of the world, the three artists invite us to become collectively aware of the urgency to act, and remind us that every collapse holds the promise of renewal.
