The exhibition
THE FACETED BALL CONCRETE TRUCK
For one evening, Benedetto Bufalino converts a cement mixer into a giant disco ball. The staging suggests that work in progress has been interrupted to make way for the party. Adorned with mirrored plates, the concrete truck is parked in the center of Place Royale, emitting a lively musical score and reflecting its glitter by the thousands onto the surrounding architecture. An unusual detour from the construction site, the incongruous installation transforms the public space into an improvised dance floor for the community.
For Benedetto Bufalino, common everyday places are playgrounds for offbeat rereadings of reality and rearrangements of urbanity to subvert perceptions. The dazzling cement mixer refracts its light as it rotates, appropriating the square to draw us into a moment of collective joy and underscore the beauty of the urban landscape.
