The exhibition
Dissatisfied with the two-dimensionality and limitations imposed by the traditional canvas, Felice Varini turned to architectural installations and the urban landscape, which he uses as a three-dimensional setting for his large-scale, monochromatic geometric compositions. In his work, the viewer enters the painting and walks through it, observing deconstructed fragments, until a specific vantage point resolves the optical puzzle, thus offering a coherent view of the overall form.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Felice Varini (Switzerland)
Felice Varini creates monumental anamorphic paintings, specially designed for historic monuments, notable urban sites, and museums around the world. He has created public installations at iconic French sites such as the Cité de Carcassonne, the Orangerie at the Palace of Versailles, and Le Corbusier’s Cité Radieuse in Marseille.
