MUSEUM OF BAD ART
The Museum Of Bad Art brings together the best of art that is just “too bad to be ignored”. The paintings in the MOBA collection, whether purchased in thrift stores or yard sales, rescued from the trash, or donated by their creators, represent sincere attempts to create meaningful art. However, somewhere along the way, something has gone terribly wrong in each of them. The museum’s curators offer insightful interpretations of each painting, making educated guesses at the artist’s intention. MOBA paintings invite viewers to reconsider assumptions about art.
Here at Aire Publique, the paintings line the walls of a Louis XVI style drawing room. The exhibition scenography is inspired by the Salon de peinture et de sculpture, an annual group show presented by the Académie des beaux-arts in Paris in the 18th and 19th centuries. At the time, this elitist event would have excluded the singular creations celebrated today in the Bad Art Salon. Make yourself comfortable with a cup of coffee and soak up the unusual atmosphere!

ABSURD WRITING CONTEST
Congratulations to Timothée Laventurier, winner of absurd writing contest!
“In Jackie Fondante, the artist captures the essence of a melting smile, like a forgotten ice cream under the apocalyptic sun. Black and white evokes an epic struggle between shadow and ice cream. The poetic drips symbolize gravity… or perhaps the sadness of a cheesecake. A work that screams: “Beauty is perishable, but love is eternal!” A masterpiece of milky chaos and dripping genius.”
Since 2021, MOBA and EXMURO have been actively collaborating, supporting each other in their respective missions. This strong artistic alliance bears witness to the importance of art as a space for encounter, exchange and resistance.
