Québec, Thursday September 19, 2024 - As the cultural season gets underway atEXMURO is in full swing, the countdown is on forHUMANORIUMthis large-scale artistic funfair will be taking place in the heart of Old Quebec. From September 28 to October 6, a dozen extraordinary works of art and attractions will transform the Place de Paris, offering the public a singular, sensory experience that reveals all that is beautiful... and unusual about human existence!
If you haven't experiencedHUMANORIUMbetween 2016 et 2019, you won't want to miss it at the Place de Paris this year. It could be thelast lap of the strange funfair in its familiar form.
Every day from 12 h to 21 h, the current art event will welcome the public in an atmosphere worthy of the fairs of the 19th and 20th centuries. In addition to its original format,HUMANORIUMwill be presenting two new attractions. At Cinéma l'Espoir, we'll be showing two short films that are as beautiful as they are poignant, highlighting the strength of Aboriginal women.Kiwew (She goes home)by Eruoma Awashish andCREATURA DADAby Caroline Monnet. Théâtre Rude Ingénierie will also be joining the party with La remise de Diogène, a hypnotic interactive installation that the audience can activate to orchestrate pieces of wood, antique crockery, multiple lights and much more! The result is astonishing music and a unique visual spectacle every time.
Echoing previous editions, the public will also find creations by several artists from here and abroad. As intriguing as they are inviting, they explore notions of the body and identity expression through human beauty and eccentricity. Finally, straight from Barcelona,The Freak Showby Joan Fontcuberta promises to make you cringe as it exposes extreme body modifications published unscrupulously on the Internet!
Admission to the site is free, but to access the various attractions, the public is invited to purchase coupons on site ($1.75 + tax for an individual coupon or $8.70 + tax for a book of 12 coupons).
