QUEBEC AIRE PUBLIQUE INDOOR EXHIBITION

FOLLOW THE LEADERS
Follow the Leaders is a hard-hitting installation by Isaac Cordal that denounces the excesses of capitalism, political inaction and the environmental crisis. Through miniature sculptures of men in suits and ties, frozen in a ruined urban setting, the work illustrates the powerlessness of elites in the face of impending collapse.
This striking picture highlights bureaucratic paralysis, collective apathy and the absurdity of the system’s empty promises. The title, tinged with black humor, accentuates the criticism of a society where conformity leads to inaction. Follow the Leaders is a real wake-up call, inviting us to mobilize in the face of the challenges ahead.
Presented on the floor of Galerie 2, the installation creates a winding passageway through the ruined landscape, extending its visual impact outwards with the Cement Eclipses public art trail.

EXMURO’S AIRE PUBLIQUE
ISAAC CORDAL
Isaac Cordal’s ephemeral sculptural installations question contemporary humanity, exposing the power imbalances and excesses of capitalism and the Anthropocene. Destined to disappear, they survive through photographic documentation that immortalizes their impact.
THEMATIC PROGRAMMING 2025
ART ON THE EDGE OF CHAOS
With its 2025 programming, EXMURO’s Aire Publique becomes a forum for bold artistic explorations of individuals and communities confronting powerful natural forces. The works of Pipilotti Rist (Switzerland), Isaac Cordal (Spain), and Martin Bureau (Québec) subvert norms and recast assumptions to confront the far-reaching forces of capitalism, patriarchy, and the climate crisis. What all three artists share are sharply critical worldviews that foster a collective awareness of the urgency to act, reminding us that in the ashes of every collapse lies a promise of renewal.
EXMURO’s Aire Publique is supported by the Fonds de mise en valeur et d’animation de la Place Royale, administered by the Musée de la civilisation.
